What is Rubenal?
Rubenal comes from a medicinal herbal form of rhubarb called Rheum Officinale. Within this herb resides a number of different types of helpful components like anthranoids (such as Rhein and Emodin), tannins, stilbene derivatives, volatile oil, fatty acids, etc...
Kidney disease and scar tissue creation
As kidneys deteriorate, the micropressure within the functional unit of the kidney raises and leads to protein loss within the urine. This protein causes further inflammation within the kidneys. This inflammation leads to scar tissue deposition within the kidneys. This scarring leaves to further damage and further inflammation within the kidneys.
Rubenal slows the progression of kidney disease
In animal studies Rhuem Officinale supplementation can reduce glomerulosclerosis (a type of kidney scar tissue production), reduce protein loss in the urine and reduce blood levels of creatinine. In people it has been shown to reduce the clinical progression of chronic kidney disease. In rats, Rubenal has been shown to increase kidney function and life expectancy in kidney failure models.
Rubenal is easy to administer and safe
Taste tests have shown that both dogs and cats enjoy the taste of Rubenal. It can be given as a pill or crumbled on top of food. As a nutraceutical as opposed to a drug, it is has not been associated with clinical side effects.
