Podcast #51 features an interview with our podcasting veterinarian Dr. Lee In this podcast we discuss most of the important topics that surround
vaccinating pet cats. We cover topics like the different types of
vaccines (killed, modified live and recombinant), core versus non core
vaccines, why indoor cats STILL need vaccines and vaccinations that are
no longer recommended.cats.
Dog Vaccines #50. features an interview with our podcasting veterinarian Dr. Lee. In this podcast we discuss most of the important topics that surround
vaccinating pet dogs. We cover topics like what is a vaccine, why we
vaccinate, when to vaccinate, over-vaccination, vaccines that are no
longer recommended etc. Thanks to Winston from our Pets.ca Forum for suggesting this topic. This is a two part podcast and the next show will be devoted entirely to vaccinating cats.

cancers, the differences with regard to humans and pets that have
cancer as well as cancer treatments.

also discuss myths about illness. Many pet owners mistakenly think that
all they have to do is touch their petís skin or nose and they can
diagnose illness in that simple way. This is a dangerous mistake and in
this podcast we discuss why.
Holiday Hazards Podcast #45.
In this interview we discuss holiday hazards for cats and dogs and
focus on the more common hazards. We also dispel a few myths on just
how toxic certain items can be for our pets. For instance; most people
think that poinsettias are incredibly toxic to pets. Although they are
toxic, the mistletoe is far more toxic than the poinsettia.

impacted anal glands. Dr. Lee talks describes 2 ways to empty your
dogís anal sacs (if you are a courageous do-it-yourselfer).
Dehydration. Podcast #42.
In this interview we discuss dehydration in cats and dogs. We talk
about why our pets get dehydrated, we talk about simple tests that may
indicate dehydration and we talk about treating dehydration.
Summer Heat. Podcast 41. In this interview we discuss how the heat and sun affects cats and
dogs. We talk about sunburn and heat-stroke in dogs and cats as well
talk about general tips to keep cats and dogs heat-safe during the hot
Early Spay and Neuter. Podcast #40. In this interview we discuss the early spaying and neutering of dogs
and cats from between 8 and 16 weeks of age. Normally cats and dogs are
spayed or neutered at 5-6 months.
Small Dog Diseases. Podcast #38. In this interview we discuss diseases and health problems common to
small dogs. Some of these problems include; luxating patella, Legg
Perthees disease, hip dysplasia, brachiocephalic (smooshed face)
problems, collapsed trachea and oral diseases.
Dog to cat and cat to dog diseases. Podcast #37. In this interview we discuss diseases that cats can give dogs and dogs can give cats. Some of these diseases include; ringworm, bite wounds cat scratch fever and more.
Diseases we can get from our pets! Podcast #36. In this interview we discuss 6 diseases that humans can get from their
pets. The term for diseases that you can get from your pets is called
zoonotic disease or zoonosis.
Kidney Failure. Podcast #35. In this interview we discuss general kidney failure in cats and dogs.
(as opposed to kidney failure due to infection, tumors, cystic disease
etc.) We talk about signs of kidney failure which often include loss of
appetite, vomiting, weight loss, increased urination etc. We also
discuss changing diets, foods to avoid and medications that can help
with kidney failure in pets.
Bad Food for Pets. Podcast 33. In this interview we discuss certain foods that cats and dogs should
avoid. Foods that we discuss avoiding include grapes, raisins, onions,
garlic (and members of that whole family) Macadamia nuts, chocolate and
high fatty foods. Eating these foods can cause specific consequences to
dogs and cats, even death in certain cases. Take a listen for specific
doses and consequences.
Healthy Pet Treats. Podcast #30. In this interview we discuss giving dogs and cat treats. We talk about
the ratio of treats to a healthy dog or cat food and we talk about some
great treats in general. We also touch on the issue of food allergies
